Hvar: the HotSpot in Croatia

Gone TrendScouting
I have been Trend-Scouting (and on Holiday) in Hvar for two weeks.

The small harbour city is really the place to be in the adria. We have seen the coolest yachts staying here for a couple of days.
No cars are allowed within the city – and even if you would try – there are only narrow paths and hundrets of steps. A really ancient town with a modern touch.
Hvar Harbour

I prefer the cool Sunseeker Yachts and already think about buying one someday 🙂

Yesterday we found a great restaurant right on top of the mountain called Humac.
It is an ancient town with one great restaurant serving organic-food (grown right next to the restaurant on the fields). Delicious.

First Business Magazin for Second Life

Second Life Business Magazine

This week the first Magazin for Business in Second Life was started:
The Second Life Business Magazin.

“An online and in-world magazine has launched to cater to the needs of SL entrepreneurs. The “Premiere Virtual Branding” magazine launched August 1 and features articles on investment, real-estate, fashion and animation.”

I listened to a Podcast by Business Week a couple of weeks ago:
Virtual Worlds, Real Money.
This title explains the potential and the development in virtual worlds. Second Life is getting bigger all the time and people
start their own business.

They are starting to make real money. This is all about in the new magazine.
The Magazine is coming as a PDF Version to download.

And I specially like the integration of QR-Tags into the magazine. This is great.
We call this trend: “Annotated Spaces”.

Furthermore I like the way the creators of the magazine work. It is similar to our Trend-Scouting Network. People are spread out all over the world. The Publisher is based in Afghanistan, the Creative Director in China and the rest of the team in USA and Canada. This is a real team working virtually together – great.

Documentation about September 11

Loose Change

Loose Change is an interesting movie about September 11. The movie is free and only available via Internet.

The Movie was produced with a low budget, but still has a great quality and a real dramatic style.
“With $6,000 and a laptop computer, three kids from upstate New York made a documentary about 9/11 that spread across the Internet and threw millions for a loop.”

Via LooseChange911.com:
“Loose Change 2nd Edition” is the follow-up to the most provocative 9-11 documentary on the market today.

This film shows direct connection between the attacks of September 11, 2001 and the United States government.

Evidence is derived from news footage, scientific fact, and most important, Americans who suffered through that tragic day.

IT IS EVERYONE’S DUTY TO VIEW THIS FILM.

You can watch the whole movie via Google Video:

How Many are Blogging – and Why?

Blogging T-Shirt

Today I found this interesting study about Blogging:
How Many are Blogging – and Why?

Blogs have become one of the key mediums for word of mouth. The Pew Internet & American Life Project released new data recently that offers a snapshot of the blogosophere as of April 2006. Among the key findings:

* 8% of consumers (12 million US adults) keep a blog, up from 7% last year.

* 39% of consumers (57 million US adults) read blogs, up from 27% last year.

When asked why they blog, the number one reason given (77%) was “to express themselves creatively”. Other reasons included: 76% to “document personal experiences”, 59% to “stay in touch with friends and family”.
