About Monty Metzger
Full Bio
Monty C. M. Metzger is one of the most recognized voices in regulated blockchain infrastructure, crypto finance, and the tokenization of real-world assets. His work focuses on building the institutional-grade regulatory and technological foundations for the next generation of global asset markets – connecting traditional finance with the emerging internet of value through distributed ledger technology (DLT), crypto asset regulation, and programmable asset tokenization.
Forbes published Metzger’s widely cited quote: “blockchain is to money what e-mail was to the letter.” Newsweek ranked Metzger among the most important people in the Liechtenstein and fintech industry. Metzger is ranked among the top German-speaking keynote speakers by AAE Speakers and the All American Speakers Agency.
He is the author of “Blockchain Banking: The Future of Money and Finance“ (January 2023) and “Tokenization: The Trillion Dollar Asset Revolution” (2024), two of the most comprehensive publications on blockchain finance and asset tokenization available today. A new title is forthcoming in 2026. His books are used as reference works by institutions, regulators and investors across Europe, the Middle East and the United States exploring the intersection of traditional finance and blockchain technology.

As CEO and Founder of LCX – Liberty Crypto Exchange, Monty leads one of the most comprehensively regulated crypto asset businesses in the European Union. LCX is incorporated and supervised in the Principality of Liechtenstein under the Token and Trusted Technology Service Provider Act (TVTG), holding 8 regulatory registrations granted by the Financial Market Authority of Liechtenstein (FMA) – more blockchain-specific regulatory approvals than virtually any other company in the industry at the time of registration.
LCX is headquartered in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, and operates through LCX Global S.A., a Luxembourg holding company, with subsidiary operations across the EU. LCX is among the first crypto exchanges in Europe to file for authorization under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), positioning it as a first-mover in the new pan-European regulatory framework for crypto asset service providers. With MiCA CASP filings active in both Liechtenstein and Lithuania, LCX is building the infrastructure to serve institutional and professional clients across all 27 EU member states under a single passportable license.
LCX operates a professional-grade crypto trading platform with over 250,000 registered users and a consistent top-30 ranking on CoinGecko by trading volume and trust score. The exchange supports spot trading, advanced order types, crypto savings, a token launchpad, and a native stablecoin (EURe). LCX’s technology stack is built for institutional reliability with a focus on compliance-first product development.
In addition to its exchange business, LCX has developed Liberty Chain, an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain built on the OP Stack, designed as a regulated tokenization infrastructure layer – described as the “eBay of tokenization” for real-world assets. Liberty Chain powers tokenization use cases for financial instruments, commodities, and alternative assets within a compliant, auditable framework. LCX has filed over 63 MiCA-compliant crypto asset whitepapers on the official ESMA register, representing approximately 9% of all EU filings to date and demonstrating unmatched first-mover compliance depth in the sector.
Don Tapscott, the globally renowned author of “Blockchain Revolution,” and Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, both serve as strategic advisors to LCX, underscoring the company’s credibility at the intersection of technology, decentralization and institutional trust.
LCX’s mission: Empower Professional Crypto Finance.
Through Toto Finance, Monty leads the world’s premier platform for the tokenization of physical commodities and real-world assets. Toto Finance has tokenized over 45,000 individual assets since 2023, spanning diamonds, gold, silver, platinum, rare earth metals and copper – making it the most active real-world asset tokenization platform in its category globally.
Toto Finance converts physical assets into blockchain-native digital tokens, enabling fractional ownership, transparent provenance, and programmable settlement of commodity interests that were previously illiquid or inaccessible to a broad investor base. The platform is incorporated in Delaware (USA) with operational presence in New York and works with some of the world’s largest commodity producers to bring institutional-scale tokenization mandates to market.
The Cardano Foundation has published an official case study on Toto Finance, recognizing the platform as a leading example of real-world blockchain utility. Toto Finance is actively in discussions with NYSE-listed mining companies for large-scale copper tokenization mandates representing over $5 billion in underlying asset value, as well as with sovereign and institutional partners in the Gulf region for flagship commodity tokenization showcases.
Toto Finance is the leader in commodity tokenization. The platform is compliant but operates independently of LCX’s TVTG regulatory licenses, which are held by LCX AG Liechtenstein.
